7 things you can learn from the life of Ruth (Part 4).

Good day beauts

I hope you’re all having an amazing week thus far. Today’s post is part 4 of our 7 segment series on the life of Ruth. The focus of today’s discussion will be on the importance of POSITIONING YOURSELF, so sit back, relax, nourish your soul, and enjoy.

‘Girl you actually need to go out more and socialise, how do you expect to get hitched up?’! I know that hearing this statement can be fairly uncomfortable to digest, as it’s something that I personally struggle with, but there is soommmee truth in it. My mother likes to tell me that I need to go out more in order for my man to be able to locate me, as I shouldn’t expect my husband to find me at home in bed.

It’s all well and good praying to God but we also have to take a step of faith and walk into the opportunities which He brings across our path. The Bible states that faith without works is dead. We should never allow fear hold us back, but we must also remember that we should never try to take the wheel from God. What we should do is surrender our lives to Him and trust that if we walk in obedience, He will cause everything to work together for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to HIS purpose. Interestingly enough one of the definitions of the verb hitched is to ‘move something into a different position with a jerk’, I happen to love this definition as I feel that it helps give further clarity with regards to the current subject of discussion. This is because when we are called to move into a different position (come out of our comfort zone), it can be an extremely scary process which may make us feel like we’re being jerked about. We tend to feel uneasy.

James 2:17 ~ “So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.”

To further make today’s post clear, picture an individual who has the desire to become a Radiographer? This individual has to actively apply to universities which offer the course, as well as sit exams prior to entering into higher education. It doesn’t end there as this person will also have to spend 3 years studying, and attending placement before qualifying as a Radiographer. This is an example of faith PLUS works. This individual believed that they could become a Radiographer, AND put in the work by attending placement and sitting exams to gain the qualification. We also have Noah in the Bible, God told Him that there would be a great flood, Noah trusted God’s word and expressed his faith in God through building an ark.

Hebrews 11:7 ~ “It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.”

So position yourself so that you are locatable. For example if you have the skill to bake, bake and present it to others within your local community, friendship group, or family. Don’t be afraid to do so, as the more your practice the more skilled you become. Now we must understand that there is a right way and a wrong way to present yourself before others. Your attitude towards those around you makes a big difference to how they perceive and treat you. As a godly individual you should show kindness towards others, instead of exuding pride or arrogance. You should aspire to speak to others in a gentle and respectful manner, for love is not rude and God calls for us to love our neighbours! Your attitude plays a big role in how you present yourself to others, and will effect your positioning in life.

In relation to forming a marital relationship I am in no way saying that you should perceive every person who happens to be the opposite sex as a potential spouse. But what I do desire to express is the importance of trusting in God, and having an ATTRACTIVE CHARACTER. Such as being pleasant, patient, kind, and hard working etc.

So because Ruth was out there working Boaz was able to NOTICE her. He NOTICED Ruth’s hard working character and got to observe her lovely attributes, which is what made her super attractive. So ladies (myself included) position yourself well, and by this I mean seek to be a virtuous woman who lives well for God. It really pleases the Lord when we do good to others, and He notices when we live in obedience to His word. And guess what not only will God notice your acts of kindness but those who encounter your presence will notice your godly characteristics too. And of course at God’s appointed time your future spouse will become aware of your tender-heartedness 😉. So don’t sit at home wasting time procrastinating over doing what God has called you to do, neither should you sulk or wallow in self-pity because you ‘feel’ you deserve more in life, but be thankful and grateful at all times. A positive attitude is attractive, whereas laziness and rudeness is repulsive. This word also applies to all the men out there too.

Hebrews 13:16~ “And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.”

To sum things up Ruth positioned herself in a way that Boaz could NOTICE her, she was in a place where she could be seen. Ruth was seen and noticed because she was outside working hard, not because she was carrying herself in a seductive manner whenever Boaz was around.

Ruth 2:4-7~ “While she was there, Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters. “The Lord be with you!” he said. “The Lord bless you!” the harvesters replied. Then Boaz asked his foreman, “Who is that young woman over there? Who does she belong to?” “And the foreman replied, “She is the young woman from Moab who came back with Naomi. She asked me this morning if she could gather grain behind the harvesters. She has been hard at work ever since, except for a few minutes’ rest in the shelter.”

And with everything in life if you have the desire to accomplish a specific task which may need the support or investment of others, don’t be afraid to step out in faith. Don’t be afraid to be noticed for God will bring across your path the right individuals, who will help support you on your journey to fulfilling your purpose. Remember the Bible says the Lord hates pride so be aware of embarking on projects if your only goal is to receive self-glory, for this will not please the Lord! I hope you catch my drift in today’s post. Stay safe, position yourself well, have faith, and don’t let fear hold you back.

Be blessed

God bless

  1. I was drawn by your blog title today because I just did a post that spoke about David, the man after God’s own heart. I smiled with your brilliance and bless your ministry to become a woman after God’s own heart. May you be enriched in the days ahead.

    1. Thanks so much sister in Christ. I look forward to reading your blog. I’ve also been looking into what it truly means to be an individual After God’s own heart.
