Luke 18:1 ~ “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.”
Good morning lovely people
I hope that this post meets you well? Today’s topic of discussion is on prayer, and I hope that all of us can take something away from today’s study, and put it into practice. As we are told to be doers of the word, and not only hearers (James 1:22)!
Your method of prayer (communication/warring against the activities of the enemy etc.) may have to change, but it should never cease! You may find yourself in a season where all that flows out of your lips is songs of praise! Praising God is still a form of communication and a way in which we openly declare before the heavens and earth, that our God is great and holy, and that He is the Lord of heavens armies. We must remember that when we truly declare our faith in God we will find strength in Him, and demons tremble at the fact that God is (James 2:19). Sometimes we may find it difficult to pray but in the moment can gather up strength through the power of the Holy Spirit to raise up a song of victory within our hearts before, and unto the Lord!
Psalm 21:1 ~ “How the king rejoices in your strength, O Lord! He shouts with joy because you give him victory.”
Psalm 21:13 ~ “Rise up, O Lord, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.”
David an experienced man of war frequently sought God’s counsel on how he should attack enemy forces. Just because we believe that we’re seasoned ‘prayer warriors’, does not mean that we should stop asking God about what HE desires for us to pray for! So don’t be alarmed when you prayer pattern changes, as we should be very open minded to the movement of the Holy Spirit. We ought not to be so rigid.
1 Samuel 23:2 ~ “David asked the Lord, “Should I go and attack them?” “Yes, go and save Keilah,” the Lord told him.”
1 Samuel 30:8 ~ “Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!”
Sometimes all one maybe able to do is cry out unto the Lord, this could be a cry of joy, relief, victory, or it could be because a person is mourning. The thing we must know is that God hears, God see’s, and God answers. Now the answer He may give us may be one which we dislike, but nonetheless we must still hold onto the truth that God loves us. He gives us a peace which surpasses human understanding, a peace which the world can never give.
2 Chronicles 13:15 “and the men of Judah began to shout. At the sound of their battle cry, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel and routed them before Abijah and the army of Judah.”
1 Samuel 1:10-11 ~ “Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord. And she made this vow: “O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the Lord, his hair will never be cut. ”
So don’t give up on praying and remember praise is a form of prayer (worship). Singing songs sincerely to our Maker is a way in which we communicate our love towards Him. Communication is not limited to only verbalisation through speech , it is the imparting and exchanging of information through various means. Communication involves listening too. So in our quiet time we should seek to hear from God (God speaks to us in different ways e.g. through the Bible and creation). Also remember it’s not about how long or short you pray for, but about the quality of your heart. A person is not made right before the Lord because they can pray for hours, but through faith in Christ. What is of great importance is that we continually walk in unbroken fellowship with the King, and that we do not stop communicating with Him.
Finally we can rejoice in the fact that we have a perfect High Priest who prays on our behalf, and His name is JESUS.
John 17:20 ~ “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.”
Take care, God bless, and keep safe.
Love from
