Stop skipping bible verses.
2 Timothy 3:16 ~ All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
Good day beautiful people
I hope that this message meets you well? Today I will be discussing about the importance of reading scripture in it’s ENTIRETY. And yes that means reading whole passages without skipping verses, including passages with repetitive lists of measurements.
Personally during my younger years/early twenties, I never understood why the bible repeatedly listed certain requirements, such as, specific offerings that needed to be brought before The Lord. And you also have the lengthy genealogy lists! Like why? And because of this, it became the norm for me to skim read through books such as Chronicles, and certain sections of Numbers…UNLESS I saw a name that I thought looked, and sounded interesting enough for me to name my future children, specifically my sons! Did anyone else do this?
Ezekiel 42:16 ~ “He measured the east side with his measuring rod, and it was 875 feet long.”
Upon reading the book of Ezekiel (Ezekiel 42:16), the Holy Spirit opened my heart to a few things which I’d also like to share with you all, as now I understand the significance of the temple measurements! It’s there to show us how specific, faultless, and holy God’s word is. It shows and reminds us that we cannot measure up to God’s standards in our own strength (through fleshy means). It exposes to us that we are sinners in need of salvation. Imperfect beings in need of the perfect blood of Christ. Christ lived a perfect life, so that we can be made right through Him. His blood paid the perfect price for our redemption! Thank God for forgiveness, which comes through the precious blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ.
Ezekiel 43:10 ~ “Son of man, describe to the people of Israel the Temple I have shown you, so they will be ashamed of all their sins. Let them study its plan,”.
Be willing to sacrifice part of your day, everyday, to dig deeper into God’s word. The worldwide web is a pretty great resource for bible study. Try researching more about the bible, trust me it gets more exciting over time. Getting to know God more intimately, is thrilling! Compare and contrast commentaries! Be prepared to continually learn your WHOLE life! One doesn’t stop learning because they reach a specific age of spiritual maturity, or because they’re elderly! And most importantly if you don’t understand a passage, ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR WISDOM! Getting support from a local church bible study group is also a great way to learn (finding a bible believe church is key).
Psalm 119:105 ~ Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
As Christians it is very important for us to see the word of God as our guide! If you desire to live a successful life (victorious in Christ), then you must obey the word and live by the word. And we can only do this by reading/hearing the word! So make it a habit to read, or listen to God’s word DAILY, even if it’s a verse a day.
Joshua 1:7 ~ Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.
In closing I’d like to leave you with an acronym, which I just happen to LOVE.

Addendum: Bible reading plans are also really great tools which can be used to help one read through the entire bible. I like to use the one year bible reading plan, as it gives me a daily dose of the Old and New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.
I love the acronym! Great post.
☺️ Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful week Meghane. Stay safe and God bless.
Thank you!! God bless you too!
I’ve been studying the Word of God for over 40 days. God’s Word never grows old! One of my favorite Bible study helps is Precept Upon Precepts. Scripture interprets Scripture. God will take you as deep as you’re willing to go! God bless you!
You’re 100% right. God’s word is always in season, never out of season. I think I need to add that to the post. Bible reading plans are great.
God bless
