Be lead by the Spirit and not by your eyes.
GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
I hope you and your families are well? I can confirm that God’s joy is overflowing within my heart, and I’m enjoying the current season I’m in. So today I’d like to remind us all that, not all that glitters is gold! You may seem like your ‘losing’, according to the worlds standards, but in God’s eyes you’re winning when you walk in obedience to His word. Why? Because ALL of God’s plans for our lives are so GOOD!
Whilst studying the bible, verses surrounding the life of Abraham and Lot, grabbed my attention. When given the option to pick a place to live, Lot chose Sodom/Gomorrah. It seemed like the better place to reside, in comparison to what Abraham was left with. This was because the land appeared to be ‘fertile’, the area seemed BUSTLING with life, the night life must’ve looked lit (market galore). But I’m sure that if Lot knew the destruction that lay ahead, he would have chosen a very different option!
Genesis 13:10-18 ~ “Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord or the beautiful land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) Lot chose for himself the whole Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram. So Abram settled in the land of Canaan, and Lot moved his tents to a place near Sodom and settled among the cities of the plain. But the people of this area were extremely wicked and constantly sinned against the Lord. After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession. And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.” So Abram moved his camp to Hebron and settled near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. There he built another altar to the Lord.”
I’m sure that if Abraham lived in our era, many of us would have seen his selection of where to live, as the poorer choice, and would presume his life would have been dry (boring, lifeless, dead). But what truly struck me is that He had God’s presence (close fellowship with the King), and as far as I’m concerned, anyone who has God by their side in life, is WINNING! Abraham was guaranteed God’s presence, such a promise is worth far more than diamonds, silver, and gold.
In conclusion, the MAIN point which I desire for you to RUN WITH today is… Grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Lot encountered hardship in Sodom, it was an uncomfortable environment, and he lost his wife. But to the outside world it would’ve appeared that he was ‘living the life’, when in reality this was NOT the case. So don’t envy others, especially those who do evil (a person will reap what they sow), and remember that when you have God with you, you have all that you need! Trust me God will satisfy your souls every need. There are some things in life that money can never give, such as an authentic love, and true belonging. When your finances dwindle away, or your friends forsake you, God will be there for you, He will never leave you.
Proverbs 3:31-32 ~ Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the LORD, but he offers his friendship to the godly.
Joshua 1:5 ~ “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.”
Trusting in God leads a person to a greater level of fulfilment, greater than the world can ever give! What Lot saw with his natural eye looked very pleasing, but in that very place he experienced a lot of difficulties. He was in a place where sin was celebrated. His wife was enticed by the things which the world had to offer, and it cost her her life.
I’d rather be with God in the wilderness, than be without God in a palace. In Christ we live. In Christ we win 😊🤗
