I’m more than just a trophy.
I’m more than just a beauty to behold.
I’m more than just a voluptuous frame.
I’m more than just a reproductive being.
I’m more than just a temporary host for the unborn.
I’m more than just a lady of the house.
I have a brain to think, and a mouth to speak.
God created me with such great depth, dig deep and realise that there’s more than meets the eye.
I’m not just an empty body, I have a soul.
Yes I am a beauty,
Yes I’ve been wonderfully made in the image of God.
But He has also created within me a beautiful mind, instilled with wisdom from on high. So please don’t be afraid to hear me out, and tap into my reservoir of understanding.
Good day beautiful people
I hope that this post meets you well? Today’s topic is about understanding that women are not only beauties to behold. We’re individuals who can make great contributions to society through using our minds. Just to clarify I don’t believe that looking beautiful is bad, neither do I intend on undermining motherhood in any way. I just want us to remember that we’re more than just bodies. We have souls (minds).
During Sunday sermon we looked over the story of the woman from Shunem who gave her husband sound advice, which led to them both enjoying the blessing of a child because of their hospitality! I learnt two major lessons from the passage in 2 Kings 4. First being that a woman is not just a beauty to behold, but a being who possesses a great wealth of knowledge which her husband can, and should draw from. God created men to lead their family’s, and for wives to be helpmates. And one way in which a woman can support her husband, is by giving him wise advice/counsel!
2 Kings 4:8-17 ~ “One day Elisha went to the town of Shunem. A wealthy woman lived there, and she urged him to come to her home for a meal. After that, whenever he passed that way, he would stop there for something to eat. She said to her husband, “I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.” One day Elisha returned to Shunem, and he went up to this upper room to rest. He said to his servant Gehazi, “Tell the woman from Shunem I want to speak to her.” When she appeared, Elisha said to Gehazi, “Tell her, ‘We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’” “No,” she replied, “my family takes good care of me.” Later Elisha asked Gehazi, “What can we do for her?” Gehazi replied, “She doesn’t have a son, and her husband is an old man.” “Call her back again,” Elisha told him. When the woman returned, Elisha said to her as she stood in the doorway, “Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!” “No, my Lord!” she cried. “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” But sure enough, the woman soon became pregnant. And at that time the following year she had a son, just as Elisha had said.”
Secondly one can observe that within a marriage spouses are suppose to LISTEN to one another. It doesn’t make a man lesser because he chooses to take his wife’s good/godly judgement onboard. It actually shows that he is confident in his decision of being able to select a wife, because he’s able to trust her enough not to bring him harm. (Don’t forget that both male and female are equal in the eyes of The Lord Galatians 3:28).
Proverbs 31:11-12 ~ “Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.”
That’s it for today, although brief I pray that today’s post will leave you encouraged. I also pray for the people of Afghanistan, I pray that families will receive the help which they need, and that lives will be preserved in the midst of danger. I especially pray for the women of Afghanistan, may God’s hand of protection rest upon them, and may deliverance from evil come swiftly. God bless and have a lovely week.
