You can pray for/about anything.

Good day beautiful people

I hope that today’s post meets you all well? Today we will be talking about one of my favourite topics. Drumroll please…. PRAYER! Prayer is a way in which we communicate with the Creator, we get to bond with our Father, pour out our hearts, bless our King and express our concerns.

Today I want to remind us all that we can pray about absolutely ANYTHING, yup you heard me right, but this does not mean that God will give us everything we want, but He will give us everything we need. The important thing to take away from today’s post is that it’s ok to talk to God about anything, especially matters which disturb our peace.

Philippians 4:19 ~ And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Now, praying for death to befall someone because they said an unkind word to you is not a prayer that would please God. This is because God loves all, and His desire is for none to perish but for ALL to have eternal life!

We can always look to Christ as the perfect example when it comes to learning how to pray. Christ knew the importance of staying connected to the Father, He knew that prayer was necessary in preventing one from falling into temptation. He knew that prayer provides a person with strength and grace to face the day. Prayer is a way in which we honour God by adhering to the first commandment to love The Lord God with all our heart by spending time communicating with God.

Mark 14:35-36 ~ He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. “Abba, Father,”he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

From the above passage one can note that Christ prayed for the hour of suffering to pass Him by. Most people do not like to experience pain and if they had the option to avoid pain they would. It was perfectly normal for Christ to pray such a prayer, it was the human thing to do. And we mustn’t forget that Christ was 100% God and 100% man (God in flesh appearing). But like Christ when we pray we must cultivate the habit of praying for GOD’S will to be done, rather than our own. God’s ways are higher than our own, and as mentioned in the previous post God wants what is best for us, hallelujah. And we know that through Christ’s painful death and resurrection we gain FREEDOM from sin through the precious free gift of salvation. Without God’s great sacrifice mankind would be destined to eternal damnation.

Isaiah 55:8-9 ~ “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

We can also look at one of the prayers of Paul. Paul prayed to God to remove a thorn in his flesh. This thorn truly troubled/frustrated Paul, but being in such a place gave room for God to showcase His power in Paul’s life. God’s response to Paul wasn’t ‘yes I’ll immediately remove the thorn which is tormenting you’, but rather The Lord told Paul that His grace was sufficient for Paul.

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 ~ “even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

So, it is important that we always remember that even though we may not get everything we want, God will give us all that we need, and His glorious plan for our lives will exceed our expectations. God’s way is always best. So yes continue to pray to God about anything but don’t forget to always pray for God’s will to be done in your life.

Ephesians 3:20 ~ “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

Have a blessed week all, and I pray for God’s peace to rain down upon the earth. May lost hope be restored in times of chaos, calamity and uncertainty in Jesus name.
