Dealing with lust is not only a man problem.

Good day beautiful people

I hope that this post meets you and your loved ones well? Today I’ll be talking about lust, and will be sharing my views about the subject as well as looking to the Bible for wisdom and direction.

Lust: i) a strong sexual desire.

ii) a passionate desire for something.

I believe that sex is good and holy. I also believe that God’s design for sex is for it to be thoroughly enjoyed within the confines of marriage (a union between husband and wife no additional parties included). Sex is the most intense form of intimacy/bonding that a person can have with another human being (sexual intercourse is the strongest connecting mechanism that can be shared between two individuals).

Hebrews 13:4 ~ Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

Genesis 2:23-24 ~ “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

A viewpoint which I firmly agree with is that ‘it takes two to tango’, sex is not a one man act, it requires two people to become one. And I personally believe that there is a lot of emphasis on men being visual and men desiring physical intimacy to the point where many women may feel ashamed for desiring to be physically intimate with their spouse, or feel embarrassed for desiring to be cherished. Now the viewpoint that men are more visual leaves a lot of women especially unmarried ladies in a position where they end up struggling with feeling’s of lust all alone, because they believe the lie that they’re the only christian woman battling with lust! <<<A lie of the devil!

1 Corinthians 10:13 ~ The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Firstly I’d like to highlight that ALL humans are visual. It’s human instinct to look at something you find eye catching. For example babies are attracted to human faces and bright colours, and generally speaking most people find nice smells appealing. And how can I not mention that it is absolutely normal to appreciate God’s handiwork through acknowledging the beautiful human beings He has created. It’s ok to respectfully admire a fearfully and wonderfully made human being. Problems start to arise when we start imagining or fantasying about doing more with them (desiring a person who does not belong to us, or wanting to have a romantic relationship with someone who is married to someone else).

Having a sex drive (sexual urges) is natural but as Christians we must learn to surrender our feelings and emotions to The Lord. There will be times where one is unable to prevent an ungodly thought from popping into their mind, but this doesn’t mean an individual has to spend time meditating on that impure thought. You have limited control over the people you meet out in public, therefore you cannot prevent bumping into a beautiful person or witnessing an inappropriate ad on a notice board. Being tempted is not a sin, Jesus was tempted yet He never sinned! Plus we have the Holy Spirit who is our Helper, He gives us strength to say no to sin and empowers us with the word of God.

Matthew 4:1 ~ Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Hebrews 4:14-15 ~ “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.”

So ladies craving to be loved does not make you a bad person. The Bible says that it is not good for man to be alone [Genesis 2:18] (I believe that this statement can be applied to women too). The Bible also says that we shouldn’t forsake the gathering of God’s people [Hebrews 10:25], so this tells me that God’s design for humans is not for us to live in isolation from one another although there maybe times where God may call one to a place of solitude for a short period of time, this is not the same as embracing a lifestyle of loneliness. So the innate desire to be loved is actually a good thing because it causes us to realise our need for God. Because only in Him can we discover an unfailing and unconditional love.

Psalm 136:1 ~ “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

This post only covers the tip of the iceberg regarding women and lust, therefore there will definitely be a part two God willing. I do desire to cover part two via my podcast channel if possible in order to go into a lot more depth, so please stay tuned.

Stay safe and continually bathe your mind in God’s truth.

Simply a young woman striving to encourage women of God, whilst trying to spread the gospel to a mass majority of ladies all over the world. I am an armature with regards to blogs, but with more time and by God’s grace I shall improve lol. I want every single female on earth to know how much she is loved by God (John 3:16)! Please feel free to contact me via email for encouragement, advise or prayer (I am not a qualified counsellor, or a pastor, but I believe as a young woman I will be able to relate with SOME of the things other women around the world are going through). <<< As of Feb 2019 I completed my Counselling level 3 diploma Praise God 💃🏾. I intend to help others not in my own strength, but with the help of the Holy Spirit.
