Obey God even when it doesn’t make sense!

Good day, beautiful people,

I pray that this post meets you well? Do remember that our Heavenly Father is the lifter of our heads, and His peace, which surpasses all human understanding, has the power to guard our hearts. May His compassion continue to meet us at the point of our needs, and may we always remember that the love of God never ever fails.

Today’s post has been inspired by Luke 5:5.

Luke 5:5~ “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”

Obeying God comes with blessings. Other people can receive from God too as a result of our obedience. So when the Lord tells you to act, don’t delay; rather, act now. Because acting on your own terms or when you ‘feel’ ready is actually an act of disobedience. Don’t wait for perfect circumstances to fall into place before stepping out; remember the Bible reminds us that a farmer who waits for perfect weather will never plant (Ecclesiastes 11:4). Like pastor Charles Stanley states, ‘obey God and leave the consequences to Him’. If He calls you to do something, believe that He has the resources to help you accomplish the task/mandate He has given you.

Luke 5:6-7 ~ And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.

^^^ From the above passage, it is evident that not only did Peter catch a large number of fish, his fishing partners also got to share in this supernatural blessing. There was fish in abundance enough to share with others. If Peter did not obey Jesus’ instructions based on his earlier experience, he would have missed out on a BIG CATCH.

During writing this piece, I also went on to read further down the chapter. Verse 8 of Luke chapter 5 beautifully describes the moment Peter acknowledges that not only is Jesus a miracle worker, Jesus is SO much more than that. He is the Saviour of the world, and through the blood of Jesus being shed on the cross on Calvary, humanity has been offered the free gift of salvation. The blood of Jesus cleanses us of our sins; no longer are we condemned, but we are redeemed through God the Son. This wonderful message gives us hope that, even though we are sinners (hearts affected by hate, greed, lust, unforgiveness, etc.), we have a God who is merciful enough to forgive us and promises to love us for eternity. This good news is too precious for us to keep to ourselves. We must share this with others, and we can do so through acting in obedience to our Heavenly Father. What He tells us to say, we should say, and where He sends us to go, we should go.

Luke 5:8 ~ When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.”

Have a wonderful day and thanks for reading.
