I pray that this post finds you well?
I don’t know who this message may be for, but I pray that it will encourage someone, as much as the Holy Spirit used the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to encourage me. This write-up has been inspired by my quiet time with the Lord. Birthed from a place of prayer.
It’s not every accusation or hurtful word said that we should respond to. What one should believe is that they’re exactly who God says they are. Even if someone labels you with a name far from who you are as a person, know that as a child of God you are valuable in His sight. Know that you are loved, know that God Almighty will never abandon or forsake you. Pray for the wisdom to know when to speak and to know when to remain silent. Pray to God to give you the grace to know when to act and when to stand still, and to know what battles to pick.
Ecclesiastes 3:7 ~ A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
When looking at the life of Christ, one can note that He was labelled as ‘demon possessed’, yet He knew that He was the Holy Son of God, God incarnate. Christ was falsely accused on numerous occasions, yet when He hung on the cross, He said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ Simply put, the love of God is indescribable. As believers, we have the capacity to love our neighbour as ourselves and to forgive others… How, you may ask? Because the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives within us. May God continue to give us the peace, the strength, the wisdom, and the power to always respond in love and never retaliate in vengeance. This is not to say that we are to stay in abusive situations or in places that will cause our life to be endangered. The message that I’m trying to pass across is that we should know who we are in Christ and know that we are loved. God cares for you. As Christians, we are called to respond in love, and that can look like removing ourselves from a dangerous situation whilst simultaneously praying for our enemies instead of cursing them.
John 10:19-20 ~ Again there was division among the Jews because of Jesus’ message. Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and insane. Why would you listen to Him?”
Matthew 26:57-67 ~ Then the people who had arrested Jesus led him to the home of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of religious law and the elders had gathered. Meanwhile, Peter followed him at a distance and came to the high priest’s courtyard. He went in and sat with the guards and waited to see how it would all end. Inside, the leading priests and the entire high council were trying to find witnesses who would lie about Jesus, so they could put him to death. But even though they found many who agreed to give false witness, they could not use anyone’s testimony. Finally, two men came forward who declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the Temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’” Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Well, aren’t you going to answer these charges? What do you have to say for yourself?” But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I demand in the name of the living God—tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” Jesus replied, “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Then the high priest tore his clothing to show his horror and said, “Blasphemy! Why do we need other witnesses? You have all heard his blasphemy. What is your verdict?” “Guilty!” they shouted. “He deserves to die!” Then they began to spit in Jesus’ face and beat him with their fists. And some slapped him,
Luke 23:33-34 ~ When they came to a place called The Skull, they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified one on his right and one on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
Some scriptures to remember
Romans 8:11 ~ The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Romans 12:17-21 ~ Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD. Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
Matthew 6:26 ~ Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
Hebrews 13:5-6 – Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
P.S. I know it is extremely painful being falsely accused, especially when the accusation comes from someone you trust or love, but learn to look to Christ and take note from His life. Be conformed to the likeness of Christ. What makes Him the perfect High Priest is that He can sympathise with us in our suffering.
