Hello ladies and a big hello to the gents that may also be reading.
I believe that it’s about time, we as a nation awaken from our slumber. Christians, myself included cannot continue sleeping any longer, we must respond to Gods call, telling us to wake up from our spiritual stupor. Arise O body of Christ, no longer should we stand divided, for in heaven there will be no such thing as denominations, for we will all be called children of God. When we choose to stand together in unity, then we will accomplish greater things.
In every bad, horrible and negative situation, God always has a way of drawing out the good, the lovely and the positive. He has the ability to turn a dreadful situation, into one that has the opportunity to become pleasant. Sadly I feel that the unity formed within the western world over this past weekend, is because of the result of a horrific tragedy. People who would normally not pray, have started to pray, because many have come to the realisation that even with all the knowledge, advanced technology, and weapons we have, no one knows tomorrow. No one can predict when death will strike (unless God in His sovereignty reveals such information). I would like to express that we should not wait for calamity to hit before we decide to pray, or before we decide to join together in unity. We must do so NOW, because of the love which we have for one another.
Witnessing the death of any person, whether the individual was good or evil, is something which most human beings do not enjoy to see. Even the bible says that God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but He desires for them to turn from their ways and live (Ezekiel 18:23 & Ezekiel 33:11). The unfortunate thing is that, a lot of the individuals involved in these acts of terror only understand the language of violence. Sadly some people do not respond to words which warn them to stop such evil actions, but what does work is having them detained or removed from society. It is extremely upsetting that many people have lost their lives both willingly, and unwillingly, in order for peace to reign in this world. But this is one of the sad realities which come with fighting against evil. I’d just love to express to you that, every single one of us have a weapon more powerful than that which the wicked organisations have. And it is PRAYER. We as Christians must realise that we can move mountains from our bedrooms. Prayer goes a VERY LONG way, and sometimes I feel that we as believers do not know how much value prayer holds. Our prayers are not merely hitting the ceiling, but they are reaching Gods heart. Prayer puts us on the frontline of battle, because through Christ Jesus we can change the game before the game is even played. Basically our prayers can change situations, by preventing certain events from occurring.
Some of you may laugh at my previous statement, but I just want you to understand the bigger picture. The bible specifically says that we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers (Ephesians 6:12). So whether you believe that the recent acts of violence were committed by ISIS, or people in higher power, there’s one thing which I am 100% sure about. And that is that ultimately, the devil is the one behind all these evil occurrences. Evil people are his puppets and he is the puppet master. I do not want you to take my statement as one which excuses the actions of evil people. NO I do not condone their actions, as most human beings have the capacity, and the ability to choose right from wrong, and should take responsibility for their actions.
I know that as each day goes by the devil knows that his time is coming to an end, and so he wants to take down as many lives with him as possible. The bible says that, the devil goes around looking for people to devour, because he’s so full of anger [he’s compared to a roaring lion] (1 Peter 5:8). Christians I really want us to see the bigger picture here, all over the news we see that people’s physical bodies are being destroyed, but for their souls to be lost as well, is just heart-breaking. People’s lives are being cut short, and many are robbed of the opportunity to know Jesus personally. That in itself should be a cause for alarm. Desiring for the salvation of lost souls should be enough to drive us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). We should even go as far as praying for our enemies. Many Christians may know of what a great man Paul was, in terms of spreading the gospel to the masses. I mean he even wrote a lot of the books we find in the New Testament. But how many of you know that he once persecuted Christians, he watched them being martyred, he watched people being stoned to death, he even went out of his way to throw Christians in prison. Yet God turned his zeal to do evil, into a passion to do good. God can change the hearts of wicked men, for with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26), but we MUST have faith. We must not give up on prayer.
I know that I have used the term ‘evil men’ several times throughout this post, but I’d just like you to understand that the term refers to both men and women, as I am not sexist. But on a closing note, I’d just like to say that I will continue to pray for all those who have lost loved ones, at the hands of evil men. My heart goes out to the millions of people around the world suffering heartbreak, caused by the actions of immoral individuals.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4).
