The importance of friendship
Hey people, how y’all doing??
I hope y’all are blessed because I sure am!
I just want to drop a quick word of encouragement for my fellow readers on friendship, as it’s what the Lord has been laying upon my heart to discuss!
I believe that friendship is extremely important, friends are sometimes the very people God uses to get us out of our moments of darkness (troubling times). The book of Proverbs (27:17) says that as iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend (NLT version). There may even be times in our lives where it is our close friends who are the ones to run to our aid, quicker than family members. This could be for several reasons, one being distance even the bible describes such an instance in Proverbs 27:10<< go check it out! The fact of life is that we need people in our lives, human beings are created to have meaningful relationships (that is not to say every single person you come into contact will be your best friend for life)!
I just want to speak to you right now from personal experience. Reading through the bible I see, that Jesus had His friends, the 12 disciples, and His 3 closest buddies out of the 12, James, John and Simon-Peter (well in my personal opinion they seemed to be the closest to Christ, as they witnessed His transfiguration etc). Just knowing that Christ had His disciples around Him most of the time, highlighted to me the importance of having friends around you, who can uplift you. If Jesus had friends, I think we should also desire to have good friendships, as we are called to mirror Christ’s ways. Over time I found myself in a place where life got to me, I was to busy to keep up with friends, and pretty much slacked with my communication! And if someone didn’t bother to contact me in a long time, I wouldn’t bother to initiate conversation. I then began to start praying to God to bless me with more godly friendships, something along the lines of “God I need more people in my everyday life that I can relate with, about you”. But then God convicted me, and pointed me to the fact that I already have many friends around me (some of which I can call family), these relationships I took for granted and didn’t truly appreciate. God was calling me to spend quality time with those around me, and further improve the quality of our friendship!
So I just want t leave you with these few tips, we ALL need friends, appreciate the ones you have instead of pushing them to the side in order to find that ideal/perfect friend. (No one is perfect and if you are pushing your friends aside to chase fantasy friendship, that doesn’t make you a good friend at all). And my last point is not to put your trust totally in man, but in God. Even the scriptures show us that Jesus was aware of human nature (we let each other down sometimes) < John 2:24 (NLT).Friends will let you down, as I’m sure you’ve let some of your friends down at some point, but God is the One we we can always rely on, Who will always be there in your time of need, Who is always there to listen. Having friends is essential, but the best friendship we could ever experience in life, is being in a relationship with God!
Enjoy your day, and have a blessed week all.
Thanks for reading, love you guys!!!
