Hey people
Today’s post will be focusing on mental health awareness. I believe it is EXTREMELY important for us as Christians to discuss matters of the mind, but more often than not such topics are left swept under the carpet. In some cultures mental health instability is a big taboo and is never mentioned, and many churches today rarely discuss mental health matters. But today I really want to break the stigma attached to seeking help in times of emotional need. As well as being physical beings and having a spirit man, we also have a SOUL. Our minds (hearts) are SUPER important. Why else would God tell us to guard our hearts at ALL costs (Proverbs 4:23).
First up I gotta say, please DO NOT believe the false gospel that once you give your life to Christ you will never go through struggles, and if you do it’s because you’re not praying enough! This is a lie from Satan a FALSE GOSPEL. The bible says many are the afflictions of the righteous but God WILL deliver them from them all (Psalm 34:19)! Christ the King the Creator of the Universe was mocked, and treated unfairly during His time on earth. I mean this is God we’re talking about here, His life wasn’t a bed of roses yet He didn’t let His trials stop Him from living a life of obedience towards the Father. This shows me that in life I will face trials, but I MUST keep holding onto God. The bible says that ‘WHEN’ we go through the storm God will be with us, NOT ‘if’ we do (Isaiah 43:2). Struggles are inevitable but thank God for His love, grace and mercy.
Yeah so Christians aren’t immune from physical OR mental ill health. The bible states in Galatians 4:13 that Paul shared the gospel whilst being sick.
Simply put everyone has mental health. One can either have good mental health or bad mental health, and I guess many can find themselves somewhere in between that spectrum. Suffering from a period of mental illness doesn’t make you a weak human being. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and it is essential that we talk about such issues.
I cannot emphasis the importance of sharing your struggles with others enough! The devil loves to isolate people, he loves to make people feel like their situation is beyond hope. He likes to make people suffering from emotional difficulties think they are not worth being listened to. But I tell you there are people out there who desire to hear your story they are willing to lend a listening ear, so don’t bottle up your feelings. Even the bible says that we should counsel each other (Colossians 3:16), so this tells me counselling (speaking and active listening) is necessary for healthy living. We cannot live isolated lives and expect to have a balanced life equilibrium. The bible says it’s not good for man to be alone, but I don’t see that as a statement only relating to individuals getting married. It’s not good for ANY human being to be alone PERIOD (Genesis 2:18). Human interaction is good for the soul! So don’t be embarrassed to attend a counselling session if duty calls for it.
But I must warn you please be very selective and careful with who you share your personal information with, as sadly there are people out there who have evil intentions.
I’m sure that was A LOT to take in so I will be doing a follow up post (part 2) pretty soon God willing. Lastly I believe it is important for us to be able to differentiate between having a low period, and demonic oppression, which is another huge subject in itself! So it’s ok not to be ok SOMETIMES, as we will all have to face personal battles. But it’s not ok to be consistently down to the point you are unable to do your once normal day to day activities. But we serve a mighty God who has the power to bring us through our storms as victors, a God who will never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Love you all and thanks for showing your support via reading through.
Love from the godly lady.
