Today I desire to remind everyone of the importance of getting to know God for oneself in order to avoid being disappointed/deceived! Sadly there are SO many false teachers around which makes it extremely difficult for individuals to differentiate between truths and lies!
Matthew 24:9-11 ~ Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.
As mentioned before there are many false gospels about, especially within the African continent! Many individuals have been enticed by the whole ‘prosperity gospel’ message and the ‘Christianity is a bed of roses’ lie. False teachers have traded the truth of God for a lie, they twist God’s word in order to gain mass followers, and most of the time the soul focus of their message is not Christ but money. They inform their followers that if you give ‘x amount and accept Christ in return you’ll receive multiple cars or a Rolex watch’. It’s simply ludicrous, the blood of Jesus offers us FAR more than riches, the eternal salvation of our souls is worth more than materialistic objects, which leads me to my next point. For some individuals when they accept Christ a mansion does not await them but potential death does. There are many people who are being persecuted for their Christian faith, and many have also lost their lives.
The foundation of the gospel message SHOULD be Christ and NOT money. For if a persons foundation is anything other than Christ, WHEN the storms of life come along that person WILL be shaken, for a FIRM foundation can ONLY BE BUILT UPON CHRIST ALONE.
Proverbs 10:25 ~ When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation.
Now as I do I’m going to take us back to the Bible so we can study more about the greatest man to ever live… JESUS CHRIST. Jesus was betrayed, isolated, gossiped about, and rejected, yet still managed to live a full life. He lived the best life, but not a long life. He was murdered at the age of 33. So if the creator Himself suffered on earth, it shouldn’t surprise us when we go through challenges ourselves! Being a Christian doesn’t make you immune to suffering! Christ endured suffering whilst on earth which makes Him the perfect High Priest (intercessor), because He knows exactly how it feels to hurt. So cast your cares before the Lord for He cares for you (Psalm 55:22)!
Luke 9:22 ~ The Son of Man must suffer many terrible things,” he said. “He will be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.
Experiencing hardship is part of the human experience, but with God there is always hope and the promise of eternal fellowship (nothing can separate us from the love of God/His presence). Eternal life is the priceless gift we receive as children of God! He will always lift our heads up! Experiencing suffering doesn’t make you a ‘bad’ Christian, this is simply part of life. The Bible states that many are the afflictions of the righteous but God will deliver His children from them all (even if that deliverance comes through death. This is because believers are guaranteed heaven [eternal glory and rest]). Don’t forget that Jesus loves you way more than your mind can comprehend!
Psalm 71:20 ~ You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.
Psalm 34:19 ~ The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.
