Good day people
I hope you’re all well, and continually maximising every God given opportunity which comes your way? Today I’d like to share a thing or two with you, regarding what I’ve recently discovered/learnt about faith.
Abraham is known as the ‘father of faith’, as described in the bible. And what I find so interesting about this statement, is that Abraham never performed any miracles, yet God saw him as a man of GREAT faith!
Romans 4:16 ~ “So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe.”
Just because someone does something spectacular to the human eye, doesn’t mean that they have great faith. The devil can also use people to perform signs and wonders, and we have an example of this when reading through the book of Exodus. The Egyptian magicians mimicked some of the miracles which God performed through Moses, but their source of power was demonic.
Exodus 7:22 ~ But again the magicians of Egypt used their magic, and they, too, turned water into blood. So Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had predicted.
[Side-note: Another interesting point to note, is that when Christ performed miracles, He never announced that He’d be hosting a miracle seminar/conference. He always walked in the Spirit, and therefore at any given time He could minister to those who came across His path. Many people had the opportunity to encounter the power of God on a personal level, through His Son Jesus Christ].
We’ve all been given different levels of faith, and we must remember that a persons level of faith is not inadequate, just because they’ve never been used by God to perform a miraculous sign. Our faith grows with time as we become more intimate with God. We have our lifetime to grow our faith, and we shouldn’t allow Satan to discourage us with his lies. And we shouldn’t compare ourselves with others.
Romans 12:3-6 ~ “Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.”
Also it‘s very important to remember that having faith doesn’t mean that you’ll never make mistakes (never sin)! Abraham withheld the truth about his wife’s identity on two occasions, but he still made the decision to trust God with his life, by moving away from his home AND countrymen, in order to follow God’s plan.
Genesis 12:11-13 ~ “As he was approaching the border of Egypt, Abram said to his wife, Sarai, “Look, you are a very beautiful woman. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife. Let’s kill him; then we can have her!’ So please tell them you are my sister. Then they will spare my life and treat me well because of their interest in you.”
Genesis 20:2 ~ Abraham introduced his wife, Sarah, by saying, “She is my sister.” So King Abimelech of Gerar sent for Sarah and had her brought to him at his palace.
James 2:21 ~ “Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?”
^^^Faith is a way of life. We can express our faith through our actions, by trusting God with our WHOLE life.
James 2:23 ~ “And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.”
^^^Abraham’s Faith was noticeable in the eyes of God.
James 2:25 ~ “Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.”
Rahab was seen as a woman of faith, even though she didn’t know a great deal about God, but the little she did know, she believed. And she acted upon this belief, by helping support the Israelis who came to scout her country land! She wasn’t a biblical scholar (Old Testament academic), yet God saw that she had faith! God saw that she believed in Him. Even though she was a prostitute at the time, when she chose to believe, God turned her life around because of her faith.
Don’t forget that faith is a way of life, trust that God will guide you towards a glorious future.
Stay safe, merry, and blessed.
God blessed
