Good morning to my lovely WordPress readers! I hope this post meets you well and I pray you’ve all had an amazing time celebrating into the new year! From the title I’m sure you can work out that I’ll be talking about, ‘asking’ for your desires!
First and foremost I’d like to remind you that God is NOT a distant God! He is very much involved with His creation (the Holy Spirit resides within us). God is not up there waiting around for us to slip up just so that He can punish us, you cannot fully enjoy a relationship with God if you think this way! God is omnipresent [everywhere], and is actually eager to BLESS us (Psalm 5:12 & 84:11), He desires to have a deep and meaningful relationship with us. God does not want us to get tired of Him (Micah 6:3)! He desires intimacy!
I believe that fear holds many of us back from enjoying the presence of God! We end up constantly disappointed with ourselves, and even when we confess our sins to God we do not feel ‘forgiven/justified’ until we have verbally beaten ourselves down! God is not out there to get us through pointing out all our mistakes, and making us feel condemned. God came to SAVE the world! Which leads me to my next point! Why are we so afraid to ask? God will either say yes, no or wait. And a lot of the time the reason God says no is because He has something better planned out for us (Ephesians 3:20), or He is protecting us from destruction/evil!
So don’t be afraid to ask your Heavenly Father for what you desire! He is a GOOD Father so He will give you GOOD things! If God the Father did not withhold His one and ONLY Son from us, we should have the understanding that we can ask Him for ANYTHING in line with His will for our lives, and He will give it to us (Romans 8:32). People He gave up His ONLY Son so we can live 😀.
I was inspired to write this post whilst reading the book of Zechariah chapter 10.
Zechariah 10:1 ~ “Ask the Lord for rain in the spring, for he makes the storm clouds. And he will send showers of rain so every field becomes a lush pasture.”
Sometimes all we need to do is ask to get what we desire, we don’t have to over complicate matters, just ASK simples. Which led me to another great passage in the bible, Caleb and His daughter! And I mean God is waaayyy wealthier, kinder and loving than Caleb. Therefore we should come before God with boldness just as Caleb’s daughter approached Caleb. And don’t forget even if we ‘feel’ guilty God is GREATER than our emotions!
Judges 1:12-15 ~ And Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Aksah in marriage to the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher.” Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it; so Caleb gave his daughter Aksah to him in marriage. One day when she came to Othniel, she urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What can I do for you?” She replied, “Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.
This year cultivate the habit of asking God for your desires! Write down your vision, keep a record of it and remember some tasks take a little longer to be accomplished (Habakkuk 2)! 😀
Habakkuk 2:2-3 ~ Then the Lord said to me,
Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
Love y’all
From the godly lady after Gods own heart
