Bible reading tips and tools

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Hello beautiful people,

I hope you’re all having a blessed week thus far, and are enjoying the wonderful opportunities which God brings your way, without letting fear hold you back?!! Anyways today as previously promised I shall be discussing the importance of Bible reading, accompanied with some tips I find to be pretty useful! You may find yourself asking the question ‘but why read the Bible’, so imma give you a quick low down on why I as a believer find reading the Bible to be essential!

First and foremost Bible reading has DEFINITELY revolutionised my life, it has provided me with a vast amount of knowledge, information, and wisdom about the God which I serve! It has truly deepened my relationship with the Lord. His Word helps me understand Him more thoroughly…like I get my God. I do not believe that any one person can fully understand the entire Bible, or hold a monopoly of truth about every verse. But daily Bible reading DOES help us connect with God, and it does help us understand Him that bit more! No matter how many times I read the Holy Bible I always find myself learning something new each time! So if you desire to keep on learning, keep on reading!

Another reason I choose to daily indulge in the Word of God is because it enhances my prayer life. When you know someone better you are able to communicate with them better. And how can one know God better? By reading the Bible! The Bible is a weapon, sharpen than any two edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). I cannot stress the importance of relying on Gods Word enough, as I truly believe it helps neutralise the lies of Satan! Satan loves to attack our hearts (minds) and he achieves this by whispering lies into our hearts (John 8:44). But we can overcome these negative thought patterns by replacing them with Gods Word! Look at Gods promises in order to overcome bouts of discouragement! Look to Gods Word to decipher truths from lies (almost truths)!

Philippians 4:8 ~ “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Bible reading can also prevent one from believing false teachers, this is because when you read/study the Bible for yourself with the help of the Holy Spirit of course, you truly get to know the Lord, and Gods sheep hear His voice (John 10:27).

Lastly Bible reading helps me share my faith better, it inspires me to teach and encourage other believers, and of course aids me in writing super awesome blog posts 😎.

Some tips…..

Be disciplined: Dedicate a specific time in the day to read the Bible and stick to it and ensure that you read the Bible DAILY. Be intentional about your commitment to growing in the faith.

Join a Bible believing church: Attend church Bible studies as doing so can help you mature in your relationship with God. You gotta make the effort and break free from laziness/procrastination.

Use available resources: I use the One Year Bible reading plan to help me read through the entire Bible within a year. They have an online service which you can use free of charge, or you can always opt to buy the hard copy version. They have different plans available so take your pick.

Ask the Holy Spirit for help before reading.

⁃ I love to listen to the radio. So don’t worry if you’re not such a great reader, you can always opt to study the Bible through using an audio version.

Use a Bible concordance: This is basically a resource which provides an alphabetical list of words with their meanings.

Download Apps: There are SO many tools out there which can help us deepen our faith, but remember they cannot and should never replace Gods word! (The app In Touch Ministries & One Place are both pretty good).

Joshua 1:8 ~ ‘Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

Soooo studying the Bible is a great way to get to know God personally 😀. It’s food for the soul and as believers we cannot live powerful Christian lives if we’re not feeding from Gods Word. I always like to say that everything you need to know about life is found in the book of life (the Bible).

God bless all

And have a wonderful day 😀

Simply a young woman striving to encourage women of God, whilst trying to spread the gospel to a mass majority of ladies all over the world. I am an armature with regards to blogs, but with more time and by God’s grace I shall improve lol. I want every single female on earth to know how much she is loved by God (John 3:16)! Please feel free to contact me via email for encouragement, advise or prayer (I am not a qualified counsellor, or a pastor, but I believe as a young woman I will be able to relate with SOME of the things other women around the world are going through). <<< As of Feb 2019 I completed my Counselling level 3 diploma Praise God 💃🏾. I intend to help others not in my own strength, but with the help of the Holy Spirit.
