Take that leap of faith: (You have a purpose part 3).

Mark 11:22 ~ Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God”.

Good day beautiful people
I hope that this message meets you well. Welcome to the third part of our series on discovering your purpose through unearthing your God given abilities. Today I desire to emphasise the importance of stepping out in faith. Unhealthy fear is extremely self-destructive, and without realising one can be their own biggest hindrance. Fear of the future, fear of failing, and the fear of what others think, all produce nothing but turmoil and negativity within a persons life.

Proverbs 29:25 ~ Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety.

Do not allow fear to hold you back. You’ll never know if something will or will not work unless you TRY. Sometimes all you may need to do at a specific moment in time, is to change your trajectory in order to get to where God needs you to be, rather than giving up entirely. Basically one can accomplish a previously failed task by changing their method.

It was meant to take the Israelites 11 days to get to the promise land, but it took them 40 YEARS! But guess what… They got there in the end. During those years of ups, and downs, trials, and victories, the Israelites were given the opportunity to trust God, and to develop their character (endurance). Don’t let what seems like a delay hold you back, keep trusting God, and have faith in His timing.

Deuteronomy 1:2-3 ~ “Normally it takes only eleven days to travel from Mount Sinai to Kadesh-barnea, going by way of Mount Seir. But forty years after the Israelites left Egypt, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses addressed the people of Israel, telling them everything the Lord had commanded him to say.”

[Side-note: Never think that because something worked for you in the past that it’ll work for you again. An important truth to know about life is that things CONSTANTLY change, and at times we’ll be required to adapt to alterations. Change is not always bad, and can sometimes lead to advancement. 2 Samuel 5:18-25 ~ “The Philistines arrived and spread out across the valley of Rephaim. So David asked the Lord, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied to David, “Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.” So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “The Lord did it!” David exclaimed. “He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). The Philistines had abandoned their idols there, so David and his men confiscated them. But after a while the Philistines returned and again spread out across the valley of Rephaim. And again David asked the Lord what to do. “Do not attack them straight on,” the Lord replied. “Instead, circle around behind and attack them near the poplar trees. When you hear a sound like marching feet in the tops of the poplar trees, be on the alert! That will be the signal that the Lord is moving ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.” So David did what the Lord commanded, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.”

^^^King David was a seasoned veteran, yet he still consulted God about how he should handle his army on the battlefield].

My question to you today is, what is holding you back from living out your purpose? Please STOP living in fear, and don’t let anxiety or worry govern your decision making in life . Don’t let fear be an excuse as to why you never achieve! (It’s necessary to deal with the root cause of fear, by seeking help, and praying about the matter). Believe that God will guide your footsteps and orchestrate a series of events in your favour, in order to do what He’s created you for! Also it’s vital to remember that a lot of the things which we ‘fear’ never happen. Fear robs us of our joy, and peace of mind, but today I pray that God’s peace which surpasses all human understanding will guard your mind.

If you’re worried about lacking the skill for what God has called you to do, just know that if God has carved you out for a particular purpose , then you can definitely fulfil that purpose. Moses thought that he wasn’t cut out to lead because of his stammer, but God STILL used him to lead a whole nation.

God is bigger than your flaws/limitation, live by faith and not by fear. Trust that God will use you to bring Him glory and to bless others. Stand steady upon God’s word, and do not be moved by fear, or swayed by negative criticism.

2 Corinthians 5:7 ~ “For we live by faith, not by sight.”

Lastly I cannot say this enough. JUST TRY. If something doesn’t work out, ah well at least you got the opportunity to learn and develop yourself. And if it does work out, GREAT. But don’t live years of your life regretting and wondering what your life could be like, if you took that step of faith and made a potentially life changing decision. Have a productive, and purposeful week.

Romans 15:13 ~ “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

God bless
